The upcoming 2021 XUV 500 has been spotted testing since long on the Indian roads, enthusiasts have been spotting it since over year. We all have came across countless spy shots of the test mules, production ready prototypes have also been spotted revealing its newly designed headlamps, tail lamps, new bumpers, fully rfreshed interior and many more.
The new generation model of the XUV 500 will be completely different from the outgoing model, the front facia will be more muscular, it will get the typical mahindra elements in the front grill. The headlamps will be full LED with C-shaped DRL’s and the fog lamps placed at the bottom.
The side profile of the car now looks more longer and premium, the wheel base must have slightly increased but we can’t state it for sure. The door’s will get flush door handles which pop up’s when the car is unlocked and sink’s in back when the car is locked. The rear profile too looks more wider, the body will surely come up with increased dimensions. The spy shots reveal that it will have LED tail-lamps as well. The current selling model has electric sunroof whereas the new gen will get a full size panoramic sunroof.
The new XUV will be more premium and feature rich that the outgoing model, the dashboard get a mercedes s-class inspired large twin screen for the Infotainment, which will get wireless Android Auto, Apple Car Play, mirrirlink, connected car tech and tons of convinience features, the front will get soft touch dashboard, the driver seat will powered seat as well as memory function. We expect some more luxury features like front ventilated seats, premium audio system, powered tail gate, powered co-driver seat, wireless charging, paddle shifts, dual zone climate control, etc. Rumors claim that thr upcoming model will offer autonomous level-1 tech and brake assist as well.
The current model uses 180bhp, 2.0-liter diesel. We expect the upcoming model to have 150PS 2.0-liter petrol and 130PS 2.2-liter diesel engines which Mahindra introduced with the Thar, both engines will comply with BS6 norms. The XUV will also come with automatic transmission and with the manual option.
As of now we don’t have any hints or clues about the pricing, but comparing to its previous gen models and current rivals we expect it to be priced in and around 20-25 lakh (ex-showroom). The car may launch around september 2021 and it may hit showrooms around November 2021 considering the festive season.
