2022 Ford Ranger Diesel With 3.0-Liter V6 Makes 443 LB-FT, 247 HP

There’s also a smaller four-cylinder diesel with one or two turbochargers.

Last November, when Ford unveiled the new Ranger for global markets, it didn’t go into much detail about the powertrains. Since then, we’ve discovered that the Raptor’s top model will feature two outputs, one for each region, but what about the diesels? The most powerful oil-burner will produce 247 horsepower (184 kilowatts) and 600 Newton-meters (443 pound-feet) of torque, according to the Blue Oval.

The 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine has a stop/start system, which is also available for the 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine in the Ranger Raptor. The six-cylinder truck with the diesel engine will be available in Australia in three trim levels: XLT, Sport, and Wildtrak. Although no fuel efficiency figures have been released, we do know that the vehicle complies with Euro 5 criteria. 2H, 4H, and 4L modes, as well as a 4A automated mode, are available with the on-demand 4WD system.

A smaller 2.0-liter diesel engine can be used in some areas of the new Ranger. The four-pot has a single-turbo setup that produces 168 horsepower (125 kW) and 405 Nm (300 lb-ft). The twin-turbo arrangement increases performance to 207 hp (154 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lb-ft). The newest Ranger has a maximum payload capacity of 1,327 kilogrammes (2,925 pounds) and a braked towing capability of up to 3,500 kilogrammes (7,716 pounds) depending on the type.

Ford will provide the workhorse with up to seven driving modes, part- or full-time four-wheel drive, and a plug-in hybrid system in the future. All engines are connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission, with stop/start available on select fleet cars with four-cylinder engines.

The next-generation Volkswagen Amarok, which will be based on the revised T6 chassis used by the Ranger, is expected to have identical technical features. Ford will, in reality, assemble the vehicle for Volkswagen in South Africa. The MEB electric architecture created by the Germans will be utilised for a few of Ford-badged EVs as part of a larger partnership between the two automakers.
