Mahindra Scorpio Classic is a revised version of previous generation Scorpio which sold in very good numbers for the manufacturer.

Mahindra has revealed the prices for its new Scorpio Classic, which will be available in only two variants. The S is priced at 11.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) and the S11 is priced at 15.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is important to note that these are introductory prices, and Mahindra may raise them in the future. Mahindra has not simply rebadged the previous Scorpio generation. Instead, they modified the SUV both cosmetically and mechanically.

The Scorpio Classic retains the iconic Scorpio’s original silhouette. However, Mahindra has made some modifications. The alloy wheels, for example, now have a diamond-cut finish, and there is a new twins-peak logo, a redesigned bumper, and a new grille. The black pillars above the tail lamps have been finished in red at the rear. The SUV is available in five different colour schemes. Red Rage, Napoli Black, Dsat Silver, Pearl White, and Galaxy Grey are among the colours available.

Inside, there’s a new 9-inch Android-powered touchscreen infotainment system. Screen mirroring is also supported. The dashboard now has wooden inserts, and the interior is finished in a black and beige colour scheme. The steering wheel is now leatherette with piano-black inserts. The seats are also brand new. They are made of fabric but have different patterns.

The engine is now constructed mechanically of aluminium. This contributes to weight savings; the new engine is 55 kg lighter than the previous one. It’s still a 2.2-litre diesel engine, but it now produces 132 PS and 300 Nm of peak torque. It’s paired with a 6-speed cable shift transmission that should have shorter throws than the previous one.

The suspension setup has also been improved. All four struts have MTV-CL dampers installed by Mahindra. This should improve body control, and the suspension has been fine-tuned. The manufacturer also improved the steering system to make it easier to manoeuvre and control.
