2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Launched In India

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced the domestic launch of the long-awaited Grand Vitara. The midsize SUV is reasonably priced, starting at Rs. 10.45 lakh and rising to Rs. 19.65 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom) for the top-of-the-line model.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, commented on the launch, saying, “Designed to rule every road, the Grand Vitara has received an overwhelming response from customers with over 57,000 bookings, and it has been widely praised by critics as well.” With its numerous offerings, the Grand Vitara has appealed to a wide range of customers.”

The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara’s Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine is claimed to have a fuel efficiency of up to 21.11 kmpl and a dual battery setup that includes brake energy regeneration, torque assist, and an idle stop-start function. The mild-hybrid range is priced between Rs. 10.45 lakh and Rs. 17.05 lakh (ex-showroom).

The self-charging strong hybrid variant has multiple drive modes (EV, Eco, Power, and Normal) that enable seamless switching between engine and electric drive modes. The Li-ion battery pack is covered by a standard warranty of 8 years/1.60 lakh km. The powerful hybrid version claims the best-in-class fuel economy of 27.97 kmpl.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Price

It is now available in Zeta+ and Alpha+ variants, with prices ranging between Rs. 17.99 lakh and Rs. 19.65 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with a special introductory package that includes an extended warranty for 5 years/1 lakh kilometres and a PRISTINE Genuine NEXA Accessory pack worth over Rs. 67,000. The Grand Vitara is also available through the ‘Maruti Suzuki Subscribe’ subscription service, with prices starting at Rs. 27,000.

In the competitive segment, the five-seater competes against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, and others. It also has a number of tricks up its sleeve. More importantly, the Grand Vitara is powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder Atkinson Cycle petrol engine that collaborates with an electric motor and a battery pack.

The combined power output of the strong hybrid system is 116 PS, and it is only paired with an e-CVT. It has a dedicated EV mode that comes in handy during traffic and low-speed conditions to improve efficiency even further. The claimed fuel economy is around 28 kmpl. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara mild hybrid is powered by a regular K15C petrol engine.

The same powertrain can be found in the latest Brezza, Ertiga, and XL6 models. As a result, the mild hybrid version is more competitively priced than the strong hybrid unit, which is sourced from Toyota. The four-cylinder 1.5-litre K15C smart hybrid petrol engine developed in-house produces 103 PS and 136 Nm of peak torque.

It is paired with a five-speed manual transmission as standard or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission as an option, and a 4WD system will be available only with this powertrain. The Grand Vitara is built on the Global C platform and is the largest Maruti Suzuki vehicle to use it, making it the flagship model in almost every way.

A nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, SmartPlay Pro+ connectivity, a HUD, a 360-degree camera system, six airbags, a wireless charger, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and other features are standard on the midsize SUV. Customers can personalise their Grand Vitars with Maruti Suzuki Genuine Accessories in a choice of three two-tone and six single-tone colours. Furthermore, two exclusive packages, EnigmaX and EnigmaX X, are presented.

The Suzuki AllGrip Select AWD system on the Grand Vitara AWD allows for four driving modes (Auto, Sport, Snow, and Lock). Some of the standout safety features include ESP with Hill Hold Assist, three-point seatbelts, standard disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS with EBD, Hill Descent Control, and TPMS.
