After an official teaser and few leaks, Volkswagen has finally unveiled the 2022 iteration of the Polo globally. The vehicle also gets many new features along with several updates. Let’s see what it comes with:-
2022 VW Polo Facelift: Details
2022 Volkswagen Polo Facelift: Engine
The 2022 Volkswagen Polo comes with a 1.0 litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated and TSI turbo-petrol engine in three variants. The base one will make 79bhp, mid-spec TSI will generate 94bhp and Top-of-the-line TSI will produce 108 bhp. All three motors come with a choice of Six-speed manual or DCT gearbox.
The 2022 Volkswagen Polo Facelift: Exterior Design
The Facelifted Polo gets an LED strip that seems like it is flowing through the headlamp and running along the radiator grille. This subtle detail brings it in line with other latest Volkswagen hatchbacks like Golf, ID3 EV and the Arteon Sedan. It gets new front and rear bumpers, a redesigned tailgate with Polo lettering below the VW badge and LED tail-lights. The Front-LEDs now come with matrix technology for the first time in the Polo, dubbed as IQ light. The facelift is slightly longer than last-gen due to its new bumpers.
2022 Volkswagen Polo Facelift: Interior Design
The 2022 Polo Facelift gets Volkswagen’s latest infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen as standard with all the latest connectivity options. A bigger 9.2-inch version is also optional. There is a new slider temperature control; lower down the centre console, which is brought over from Golf. The facelift also gets a redesigned multi-function steering wheel and an 8.0-inch digital instrument display.
Moreover, the latest iteration of Polo is now available with Level-Two Autonomous driving feature, often called travel assist as an option. This brings the adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance to enable partially automated driving at up to 210 kph as seen first on the VW Passat. But the regular variant of lane-keeping assistance comes as standard on all models.
Is the Polo Facelift coming to India?
There isn’t any confirmation on whether the VW Polo Facelift will make it to Indian Market. In the Indian market, Volkswagen still offers th ageing fifth-gen Polo. Volkswagen has said they are considering replacing the Indian model with all-new Polo. But if this happens, that could mean a generation jump. Maybe Volkswagen will consider building another version of global Polo on the MQB-AO IN platform as it is localised in India. As the company is currently focusing on its SUVW strategy in India, only time will tell if the new Polo comes to India.
