2023 Mercedes GLC Coupe Makes Spied Shows Swoopy Roofline

It’s easy to dismiss the coupe-SUV because of its unusual design, compromised practicality, and higher price tag than a typical body style. People appear to adore these cars, to the point where they’re no longer considered a luxury item. The French have the Renault Arkana and Citroen C4, and Peugeot will introduce the 4008 in a few months. The second-generation Mercedes GLC Coupe is on its way if you’re looking for something a little more exciting.

Our spies discovered a camouflaged prototype of the new GLC Coupe just two weeks after the standard model made its global premiere. It has already lost a significant portion of its camouflage, as a full camouflage would have been meaningless given that we all know what it will look like. This near-production test vehicle, which sat on 20-inch wheels, flaunted its swoopy roofline and ducktail spoiler. (hotcanadianpharmacy.com)

Mercedes appears to have gone out of its way to offer it somewhat distinct taillights, as the visible LED designs are exclusive to the GLC Coupe. Unfortunately, the faux exhaust finishers will remain unchanged from the standard model, since we can see the real tips are stashed away beneath the rear bumper. Aside from the apparent alterations to the greenhouse to fit the slimmer quarter window, the prototype is a carbon copy of the 2023 GLC.

With the basic model’s drag coefficient dropping to 0.29, the GLC Coupe should see a similar improvement. There will be a wide range of mild-hybrid gasoline and diesel engines available, as well as plug-in hybrid powertrains and the two AMGs. All of them will have four-cylinder engines, however a six-cylinder GLC Coupe 400d may be available. Air suspension and up to 4.5 degrees of rear-axle steering are also planned for a silky-smooth ride.

Although our spies were unable to photograph the interior of the GLC Coupe, the cabin will be substantially inherited from the standard model, which in turn inherited it from the C-Class W206. That means there are a lot of similarities between it and the S-Class, but not at the same degree of refinement and comfort. The interior modifications will help Mercedes compete more effectively against Audi’s Q3 Sportback and BMW’s X4.

The hot “43” and “63” AMG hybrid variants are slated to arrive in 2023, with the official reveal taking place before the end of the year. The former will have 402 horsepower and 369 pound-feet (500 Newton-meters) of torque, while the latter will have 670 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque (750 Nm).
