It only took Ford fifteen minutes to introduce a special edition model for the seventh-generation S650 Mustang. The Mustang Dark Horse, a track-focused pony car, promises more than just a cool name and logo.
While we wait for official footage of the Dark Horse in action, YouTuber DtRockstar1 had a chance to meet the special Mustang at the Gilmore Car Museum during the Mustang Stampede 2022. Even better, during the encounters, the hotter ‘Stang was caught accelerating – and it sounds insane. You can hear it for yourself by watching the video embedded above.
Aside from the acceleration sounds, we get a look under the hood of the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse. The Blue Oval claims that the fourth-generation 5.0-liter Coyote V8, with its dual air intake box and dual-throttle body design, produces the most naturally aspirated horsepower of any Mustang GT ever. This is amplified even more with the Mustang Dark Horse.

However, the exact figures are not yet available. According to the Blue Oval, the Dark Horse will be more powerful than the standard 2024 Ford Mustang GT due to specialized tuning and other upgrades. The Dark Horse is expected to have 500 horsepower (373 kilowatts) from the automaker.
Hearing it in action above, we have no doubts about those claims. But we can say that we’re pretty pumped about what Ford has planned for the 2024 Mustang and the rest of the lineup.

If you’re reading this outside of North America, don’t worry; it appears that Ford will offer the Dark Horse version globally. This is almost certainly confirmed, as the automaker has filed a trademark for the name all over the world. All that remains is for the official announcement.
