It is clear that Tata Motors has led the way in mass market safety in India. Actually, every model in Tata’s range that is presently being sold in India has received a 5-star rating by Global NCAP, with the exception of the Tiago and Tigor. The updated Tata Harrier and Tata Safari, which underwent testing in October 2023, have now earned the carmaker the Global NCAP Safer Choice Award.

Tata Motor: Safety Features
Up to seven airbags (six as standard), electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera with blind view monitoring, and ISOFIX child seat mounts are among the safety features on the Harrier and Safari. A full complement of level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control, are also included in the highest-spec versions of these SUVs.
More About Global NCAP Award
2018 saw the debut of the Global NCAP Safer Choice Award at Delhi Auto Expo. This accolade is exclusively granted to automakers who attain superior safety performance levels. In this instance, the Safari and Harrier met performance and volume requirements for Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), speed assistance, and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) systems in addition to receiving good crash test results.
A car must fulfill the following criteria in order to be eligible for this award:
- Both adult and child occupant safety tests yielded a 5-star rating.
- In order to pass the Global NCAP test and receive a perfect score, an automobile needs a speed aid system.
- AEB must fulfill its regulatory performance obligations under UN law.
- BSD must be available as a stand-alone alternative and meet the performance standards set out by Global NCAP.
