It took a little over four years for the Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy to hit the production milestone.

From its factory in Hosur, Ather Energy has produced its 50,000th electric scooter. The manufacturer of electric two-wheelers needed about 50 months, or a little more than four years, to reach the milestone. In 2018, the Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer debuted the Ather 450, its first electric scooter. The Ather 450X Gen 3 electric scooter, the company’s newest model, was introduced to the Indian market last month.

In 2020, Ather Energy launched their second model, the Ather 450X, with support from Hero MotoCorp. After two years, the EV manufacturer made the decision to replace the model with the 450X Gen 3 of the newest generation. 1.39 lakh was the initial price when it was released (ex-showroom, Delhi). The business has also introduced the Ather 450 Plus Gen 3 scooter, which costs 1.17 lakh rupees (ex-showroom, Delhi). The applicable FAME II and other subsidies are included in this price.

Ather 450X Gen 3 electric scooter comes equipped with a 3.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 74 Ah. It can offer maximum range of 146 kms on a single charge.

The TVS iQube 2022 and Ola S1 Pro are two other high-speed scooters in the segment with which the Ather 450X Gen 3 has rekindled competition. Even though recent EV fire incidents appeared to have derailed its upward sales trajectory, the electric scooter market is still incredibly competitive, with well-known manufacturers like Hero planning to introduce its EV wing Vida later this year.

Ather Energy has its manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. It has a capacity to produce more than one lakh units every year. Ather Energy has the backing of Hero MotoCorp, and the facility is also supported by the government of Tamil Nadu under its EV Policy.

The Ather Grid, a high-speed EV charging network offered by Ather Energy, is available nationwide. More than 60 EV charging grids have been installed by the company in Maharashtra. In 38 cities, it currently has more than 350 charging stations, and over the next three years, it plans to install 5,000 fast chargers.
