Bestune B70S Black Warrior Edition Is China’s Stealthiest SUV

The Black Warrior Version of the B70S is the latest special edition of the car from Chinese automaker Bestune, which is owned by FAW Group. One of the most intimidating-looking SUVs to come out of China, the model has ICE-only powertrains and is relatively reasonably priced.

Even though the Bestune B70S was only recently released in its standard form, the company still unveiled the Black Warrior Edition. The special edition’s dark theme highlights the aesthetics of the Chinese model, as implied by its name.

The new Black Warrior Edition is naturally painted in all-black, with glossy black accents on the bumpers, side sills, roof rails, and wheel arches. In addition, there are dual chrome tailpipes, red brake callipers, and a set of five-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels. It maintains the normal B70S’s aesthetic characteristics, which include a dynamic front end with LED headlights in the Cadilac style and huge intakes, a large rear spoiler, and full-width LED taillights that resemble those on the Jaguar I-Pace.

A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 7-inch touchscreen for the climate controls, and leather and Alcantara upholstery are all included inside the cabin. The star of the show is a 3D holographic virtual assistant that can play the piano for the driver and takes spoken orders.

According to Car News China, the Bestune B70S has a length of 4,810 mm (189.4 inches) and a wheelbase of 2,800 mm (110.2 inches). The Bestune B70 sedan, which also uses the same FAW Modular Architecture, has the exact same statistics.

The B70S is available with two petrol engines, both sending power to the front wheels. The entry-level turbocharged 1.5-liter produces 167 hp (125 kW / 170 PS) and is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the more potent turbocharged 2.0-liter produces 221 hp (165 kW / 224 PS) and is mated to a six-speed auto making it a tad slower in terms of straight-line acceleration. Local media report that a plug-in hybrid variant will follow in the future.

Pricing for the Bestune B70S in China ranges between ¥109,900 – ¥142,900 which translates to $16,338 – $21,244. The Black Warrior Edition will debut at the 2022 Changchun Auto Show.
