BMW M Hybrid V8 Revealed with Camouflage Livery

The livery of the new BMW M Hybrid V8 prototype contains many elements from the brand’s five decades of motor racing history in North America.

On Monday, BMW M Motorsport unveiled the new BMW M Hybrid V8. The BMW M Hybrid V8 racing car is still wearing its camouflage livery, which will be removed after the model has completed its testing laps. According to BMW, the livery incorporates aspects from five decades of North American motor racing history. The 1976 BMW 3.0 CSL, the 1981 BMW M1/C, the 1978 BMW 320i Turbo, the 1986 BMW GTP, the BMW M3 E36 GTS-2, the BMW Z4 GTLM, and the BMW M8 GTE are among the classic race vehicles featured on the cover.

The BMW M Hybrid V8 will begin testing for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2023 very soon. The team’s biggest and most important challenge, according to Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH, was to make the prototype seem like a BMW M Motorsport car. “And I can assure all BMW aficionados that just one glance confirms that the BMW M Hybrid V8 is a BMW.” It’s evident that it’s a BMW M vehicle. I especially like the camouflage livery, which pays homage to the brand’s long history in North America. “I can’t wait to see the BMW M Hybrid V8 on the track,” Meel continued.

The large kidney is the highlight of the BMW M Hybrid V8, aside from the elegant shape and aerodynamically-oriented design. Other BMW M design elements seen on the prototype include the 50th-anniversary badge on the bonnet, dual BMW icon lights with a dynamic body side, Hofmeister kink window graphic, M hook mirrors, and taillights. The racing car’s mechanical and technical specifications are yet to be published by the premium automaker.
