Can Lamborghini Urus Beat Tesla Model X and Brabus 850 In A Drag Race?

The Lamborghini Urus is the least powerful SUV is today’s race and is down over 200 horsepower compared to the Brabus 850.

It’s more difficult than ever to keep ahead of the competition in today’s increasing market of performance SUVs. To find out which performance SUV reigns supreme at the drag strip, the crew at carwow put together a one-of-a-kind lineup of SUVs for a drag race. Carwow brought a Tesla Model X Performance and a substantially customised Brabus 850 to take on the Lamborghini Urus.

The Lamborghini Urus, with its combination of power and poise, is one of the most stunning performance SUVs now on the market. A twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine delivers 641 horsepower (478 kilowatts) and 627 lb-ft (850 Newton Meters) of torque in the Lamborghini Urus. The V8 engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via all-wheel drive. The Urus has a tremendous amount of mass to move, weighing 5314 lb, but it can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in in 3.2 seconds. A new Lamborghini Urus for 2023 is expected to make its premiere at Pebble Beach later this year.

We have the one-of-a-kind Brabus 850 to take on the Lamborghini Urus. The Brabus 850 is based on the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe, and it entirely alters the drivetrain of the original car. The Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe’s stock engine is replaced with a hand-built 6.0-liter twin-turbo Brabus V8 by the Brabus team. This 6.0-liter V8 engine generates 850 horsepower (634 kW) and 1069 lb-ft (1450 Nm) of torque. To safeguard the drivetrain for more reliable performance, Brabus had to detune this V8 to only 847 lb-ft (1150 Newton Meters) of torque. This significantly modified SUV represents the finest of Brabus, a company that has spent decades making Mercedes-AMG vehicles even faster.

We have the Tesla Model X Performance to compete with these strong gas-powered SUVs. Two electric motors combine to provide 670 horsepower (500 kW) and 750 lb-ft (970 Newton Meter) of torque in the Tesla Model X Performance. The Tesla Model X can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds because to its lack of transmission and quick torque from the electric motors. In a drag competition, will this revolutionary SUV beat off some of the top gas-powered performance SUVs? Let’s have a look.
