Automakers aim to introduce a wide range of new models in the country by the end of the current fiscal year (2021-22). In this post, we discuss the top 5 new automobiles set to be released in February and March 2022.
1. Kia Carens
The Korean automaker, Kia is all set to launch the Carens 7-seater MPV in the country in February 2022. Official bookings for the MPV have already been commenced, while deliveries are expected from February-March. The new model will be based on the modified versions of the SP2 platform that underpins the Seltos.
Three engine options will be available for the Kia Carens MPV: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel, and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. This is the same engine lineup found in both the Seltos and the Hyundai Creta. Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus will be the five trim levels available for the Carens MPV. Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Gravity Grey, and Aurora Black Pearl are the eight colour options for the Kia Carens.
2. Maruti Baleno Facelift
In February 2022, Maruti Suzuki plans to debut a radically modified version of the Baleno hatchback in India. The present platform will be retained in the new model, but the steel quality used in the body panels and platform will be improved.
The new model will have a larger, free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with a completely redesigned user interface. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be supported, as well as an e-SIM-based connected car technology. HUD (Heads-Up Display), six airbags, and an all-new interior will be standard on the hatchback. The hatchback will keep the same powertrain options as the sedan. The redesigned Baleno is expected to feature a single clutch automatic or AMT similar to the Swift.
Skoda, a Czech automaker, will unveil the new Slavia mid-size sedan before the end of the year. Deliveries for the new model are set to begin in March 2022, according to the business. It’s built on the MQB AO IN platform, which also underpins the Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun. The Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will all be competitors for the Skoda Slavia.
Skoda will offer the Slavia in three trim levels: Active, Ambition, and Style. It will be available with two engines: a 115-bhp 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol and a 150-bhp 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol. There will be three transmission options: a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and a 7-speed DSG automatic. It is 128mm longer, 53mm broader, and 21mm taller than the Rapid. The wheelbase has been increased by 99 millimetres. It is said to have the best boot space in its class, with 520 litres.
4. 2022 MG ZS EV Facelift
MG Motors will give a mid-life facelift to its popular electric car – the MG ZS EV. It is expected to be launched in February 2022. The new model will come with significant changes inside the cabin; however, big change will be made under the hood. It will come with a new 51kWh battery that will offer a range of around 480km. The current model has 44.5kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 419km.
The new MG ZS EV could be equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of an 8-inch unit in the current car. The vehicle is also likely to get a digital instrument console and a wireless phone charger. The EV could also get AI assistant and ADAS from the Astor SUV.
5. Toyota Hilux
The Toyota Hilux lifestyle pick-up has been unveiled in India. By paying a symbolic price of Rs 1 lakh, interested buyers can pre-book the pick-up online or at authorised Toyota dealerships. In March 2022, the corporation will announce the prices. The Fortuner and the Innova Crysta are both built on the IMV-2 (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle) platform.
The Toyota Hilux is equipped with a 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel engine that produces 204bhp and 420Nm of torque. There will be two transmission options: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The engine produces 500Nm of torque when used with an automated gearbox. The Toyota Hilux will be available in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations. Electronic differential lock will be included in the 4WD (four-wheel drive) system.
