Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Coming With Twin-Turbo V8 Making 850 HP: Report

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is currently in development, and Muscle Cars & Trucks claims to have exclusive information about the car from “bulletproof sources.”

Insiders confirm that the ZR1 is powered by a twin-turbocharged version of the Z06’s 5.5-liter V8. The inclusion of forced induction is said to boost the output to around 850 horsepower (634 kilowatts), up from 670 horsepower in the normally aspirated Z06. Only the Tremec-sourced eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox from other C8 Corvettes is said to be available.

To match its increased power, the ZR1 boasts a more aggressive body. According to this source, the front and back fascias have been restyled. The exhausts exit through the centre of the back bodywork, just as the Z06. The wheels are said to be a one-of-a-kind design for this model. The stock tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, but a performance option apparently enhances them to Pilot Sport Cup 2R rubber.

The ZR1 is expected to debut in 2025 or ’26, according to Muscle Cars & Trucks. This is later than prior rumours, which suggested the vehicle will appear in 2023, implying a 2024 model year vehicle.

Before the ZR1 joins the range, the hybrid Corvette is coming. Rumors suggest that Chevy intends to call it the E-Ray. It reportedly uses the standard ‘Vette LT2 V8 but with the addition of an electric motor for driving the front axle. The result is the first all-wheel-drive versions of the iconic sports car. The total power output is allegedly between 600 hp (447 kW) and 650 hp (485 kW).

There will also be an all-electric Corvette. Chevy, on the other hand, isn’t saying anything about it just yet. It’s thought to be powered by the automaker’s Ultium battery technology. The expected release date is 2024.

The Zora will be the top-of-the-line C8 Corvette, according to reports. It will purportedly combine the ZR1’s twin-turbo engine with the E-electrical Ray’s powertrain assistance to produce a ‘Vette with over 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts). According to previous information, the model will be released in 2025.
