Upcoming Compact SUVs in India | Compact SUV’s To wait For.

The compact SUV segment has recently been very popular in India. People think it is a great segment to buy their first car. Cars like XUV300 & Nexon selling like hotcakes, it can be said that the popularity of the segment is not going to reduce any day. Today, we will take a look at 8 Compact SUVs which are going to launch in 2021-2022.

#1 – Tata HBX

Tata Motors is one of the most trusted brands in India when it comes to buying a new car. Its recent models Altroz & Nexon scoring 5-star rating in Global NCAP test have helped to up the reputation of the company. Now, everyone is waiting for their entry into the compact SUV market with the HBX model. It is based on the same platform as Altroz & will come with 86hp, 1.2 litres, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol unit mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT gearbox options. The expected price of the CUV is between Rs. 4.5 to 7.5 Lakh.

French automobile manufacturer Citroen is launching the C5 Aircross in India next month. But the company looks to be confident about launching another product as their Compact SUV, Citroen C3 Aircross has been spotted testing without camouflage multiple times. It may be offered with naturally aspirated and turbocharged 1.0 litre petrol engines. Other details still remain unknown.

#3 – Mahindra Bolero Neo

Some people might argue that this is TUV300 and not a new vehicle. Well, that’s the truth mate. The TUV300 will get the name Bolero Neo and sold alongside the Bolero. The original Compact SUV got a mediocre response from the Indian buyers. It was originally launched to give ‘tough’ competition to other compact SUVs. It seems that Mahindra thought of putting the Bolero badge on it to attract buyers. The model will have the same 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine upgraded to BS6 emission norms.

#4 – Volkswagen Taigun

The German car manufacturer Volkswagen revealed Taigun, its Compact SUV ahead of the Auto Expo 2020. It is expected to launch in June 2021. The vehicle is part of Volkswagen group’s India 2.0 project & a derivative of European-spec Volkswagen T-Cross. It is expected to come with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI engine. The engine will be paired with manual as well as DSG transmissions. The expected price of the CUV is Rs. 10-16 Lakh. It will rival the likes of Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, etc.

#5 – Skoda Kushaq

Skoda unveiled and showcased its new Compact SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo as Vision IN concept (pictured above). The Czech automaker has recently announced that the production name of the CUV is going to be Kushaq. The Premiere event of the production-ready variant is scheduled to take place in India on 18 March 2021. It is going to be powered by two petrol engines – 1.0 Litre & 1.5 Litre TSI. There won’t be any diesel engine on offer. It is going to rival Kia Seltos, Jeep Compass, etc.

#6 – Maruti Suzuki Jimny

There is No doubt that the Jimny is one of the most hyped Compact SUVs on the list. The reason for that it is considered as the successor of the Maruti Suzuki Gypsy which was immensely popular in the Country. It is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 100 Horsepower & generating 130 Nm torque paired with 6-speed manual transmission. The expected price of the Jimny is from Rs. 7 Lakh to Rs. 9 Lakh. The Jimny is expected to launch in November 2021.
