Dodge Quietly Removed the Manual-Transmission Challenger Hellcat Sometime in 2021

The manual Challenger Hellcat is ‘temporarily unavailable,’ according to Dodge, but no firm date has been set for its return.

You may specify all kinds of wacky paint colours, stripe packages, interior trims, wheels, spoilers, hood scoops, and more using the online configurator for the 2022 Dodge Challenger. You can choose from a 303-hp 3.6-liter V-6 to an 807-hp SRT Super Stock engine. You won’t be able to have a six-speed manual in a 2022 model with the 6.2-liter Hellcat supercharged V-8.

While I only became aware of the problem today, Challenger enthusiast communities have been discussing it since 2021. When I inquired about the stick-shift Hellcat, a Dodge official informed me that the six-speed manual was deleted from the configurator in late 2021. The representative defined the problem as transitory and stated that a fresh calibration for this powertrain combination will be released soon, allowing the stick-shift Hellcat to return to the market. The spokesman could not specify when manual Challenger Hellcat ordering will resume, but did note that production of stick-shift variants was halted in November 2021.

The manual Hellcat was a lovely mix of current performance with classic engagement, so it’s a disappointment. But fear not: six-speed manual transmissions are still available on Challenger R/T vehicles with the 375-hp 5.7-liter V-8 and Scat Packs with the 485-hp 6.4-liter V-8.
