Based on the tenth-gen civic, it gets a 2.0-litre turbo-four engine that makes 316 hp. It gets a top speed of 169 mph and a time of 5.8 seconds to reach 60 mph from a standstill. It gets a front-wheel-drive transmission like some other hatches on the list. Its exterior looks similar to that of the standard model, with a few tweaks to differentiate.

5. Mini John Cooper Works GP (0-60 mph in 5.2 Seconds)
With more than 300 HP (302 HP to be precise) and a top speed of 164 mph, this here is a serious machine. With no rear seats and eight-speed automatic transmission, the JCW GP is a track-oriented hot hatch. It gets a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine that makes 332 pound-feet of torque. The JCW GP can reach 60 mph from a standstill in 5.2 seconds. It gets only front-wheel drive and rear seats are absent (Better buy a standard model if you want to have those). Looking over those disadvantages, it is a very powerful hatchback for its size. It is one of the fastest hot hatches ever made by Mini.
4. BMW M135i xDrive (0-60 mph in 4.8 Seconds)
BMW has not only made the Mini powerful, but its own models are considerably powerful too. The M135i xDrive reaches 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. Now that’s surprisingly quick for a five-door hatchback. Its speed is limited to 155 mph. That’s slow when compared to other cars on the list, but it is a good speed for its size. The looks are where it disappoints though. If you are okay with it and want a BMW hot hatch, you can go for this one.

3. Volkswagen Golf R (0-60 mph in 4.7 Seconds)
It was the MkI Golf GTI that popularised the term ‘Hot Hatch’. The current GTIs are also carrying the weight on their shoulders fairly well. But if you want a step up from the GTIs, you have the Golf R. We agree it is more expensive than the Golf GTI, but you get significant value for your money. The AMG A45 S is undoubtedly the most powerful hot hatch in series production. Why do you ask? Well, look at the performance figures. It has a 2.0-litre single turbo engine that generates a whopping 416 bhp and 369 pound-feet of torque. It can do 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds !! AMG has really nailed things this time.
