Ferrari Daytona SP3 Looks Fantastic On The Road Despite Camo Wrap

The third member of the exclusive Icona stable has been spotted in public.

The Daytona SP3 drew worldwide attention when it was unveiled in November 2021, thanks to its retro-inspired appearance. It joins the Monza SP1 and SP2 as the third member of the elite Icona series, which was launched in 2018.

The Daytona SP3 is a modern reinterpretation of classic Ferrari designs, drawing inspiration from the 330 P3/4, 350 Can-Am, 512 S, and other Ferrari race cars. However, the company gave no details regarding its restricted manufacturing, pricing, or delivery schedule. All we know is that the majority, if not all, have already been claimed.

Now, according to YouTube user Varryx, a Daytona SP3 prototype has been discovered. It was a quick encounter, but it was sufficient for us to observe the supercar being driven on public roads.

Surprisingly, the prototype found was dressed in camouflage over its previously revealed body. Is Ferrari going to make any adjustments to it before it goes into production? We’re not sure, but even with the concealed design components and aerodynamic body, the Daytona SP3 still looks quite unique. It’s worth noting that this car is said to be Ferrari’s most aerodynamically efficient model ever.

What makes the Daytona SP3 even more unique is the 6.5-liter V12 engine. It was taken from the 812 Competizione and tweaked to fit this model. Ferrari reduced the engine’s weight and inertia by adopting titanium connecting rods, new piston pins with a Diamond Like Carbon treatment, and a rebalanced, lighter crankshaft, among other adjustments.

After all of the modifications, the F140HC now produces 828 horsepower (617 kilowatts) and 514 pound-feet (697 Newton-meters) of torque, making it Ferrari’s most powerful engine ever. It can reach 62 miles per hour (100 kilometres per hour) in 2.86 seconds with a redline of 9,500 rpm.
