Ferrari Purosangue SUV Gets September 13 Reveal Date

The Prancing Horse took to Twitter to share a teaser image hiding the debut date in plain sight, indicating that we are only one week away from discovering the Ferrari of SUVs. Squint your eyes or brighten the shadowy image to reveal the debut date: 13th of September Maranello’s high-riding model was first revealed four years ago, when the Italian manufacturer unveiled its 2018-2022 roadmap. The Purosangue is now ready for public consumption.

Already confirmed to have a naturally aspirated V12 engine, Ferrari’s late response to the Lamborghini Urus will have limited availability, accounting for no more than 20% of the company’s total annual deliveries. Keep in mind that the fabled supercar manufacturer has avoided calling the Purosangue an SUV, instead referring to it as a FUV (Ferrari Utility Vehicle). According to spy photos, it will resemble a large hatchback with limited ground clearance.

Given that the 456GT Venice waggon was limited to only seven examples, the Purosangue will be the first widely available four-door Ferrari. According to the few details that have been released thus far, it will have air suspension and all-wheel drive while sitting on a platform designed to accommodate a hybrid powertrain. The spiritual successor to the FF/GTC4Lusso will have a dual-clutch automatic transmission and a four-seat interior with more space than the previous shooting brakes.

Ferrari is fashionably late to the SUV party, as the Purosangue will face stiff competition from the Aston Martin DBX and Bentley Bentayga Speed. McLaren has so far avoided going down this path, but Woking’s new CEO is open to the idea of a supercar on stilts. With each passing year, the number of high-end marques without an SUV in their lineups shrinks.

The Ferrari Purosangue will be available to early adopters in the first months of 2023, following its highly anticipated world premiere next week.
