The Fortuner from Toyota Kirloskar Motor continued to dominate the full-size SUV sales charts in the month of August 2022. With a YoY positive sales growth of 8%, the Japanese seven-seater SUV with strong off-roading capabilities sold a total of 2,581 units last month as opposed to 2,387 units during the same period in 2021.
The Fortuner is anticipated to get a brand-new generation in the upcoming months, and before it reaches India, it is likely to be sold in international markets. It will probably undergo a number of changes both inside and out, and it might have a hybrid drivetrain. Toyota will introduce the Innova Hycross locally prior to its arrival.
With a total domestic sales of 400, the Jeep Meridian came in second place. The seven-seater has larger proportions and is based on the Compass. It is powered by the well-known 2.0-liter diesel engine, which generates 170 PS and 350 Nm. In India, the MG Gloster recently received a minor update.
SUV Sales August 2022
With a total of 185 units sold as opposed to 351 units sold during the same period last year and YoY volume growth that was negative by 47%, it came in third place. With 155 units registered in the month of August 2022, the VW Taigun was the fourth most popular full-size SUV and shares many features with the Skoda Kodiaq.
The Czech SUV came in fifth place, just 4 units behind its German sibling. In comparison to August 2021, when 42 units of the Mahindra Alturas G4 were sold in the domestic market, 44 units were sold last month, representing a 5% YoY increase in sales.
Only a few days ago, the Citroen C5 Aircross underwent a facelift that included numerous interior and exterior changes. With a YoY negative sales growth of 50%, the SUV sold 25 units last month compared to 50 units during the same period in 2021.
