The man from Gujarat wants to mark the 75th Independence Day by revamping his Jaguar XF with the colours of India’s national colours and flags mounted on it. The car has become a centre of attraction in Delhi.
On the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day, a guy from Gujarat spent 2 lakh to renovate home and drape it in the tricolour. In order to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Siddharth Doshi, a resident of Surat, Gujarat, modified the outside colour scheme of his Jaguar XF sedan and drove it all the way to Delhi. People out on the streets celebrating Independence Day have been drawn to his automobile, which has been spotted in central Delhi.

On social media, pictures and videos of Doshi’s Jaguar covered in the tricolour have gone viral. Many people used the automobile to take selfies. ANI news agency cited the owner as saying, “The “Har Ghar Tiranaga” idea is being honoured. Our Prime Minister Modi’s initiative is impressive to me. I requested an appointment because I wanted to see HM Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi.”
On his route from Surat to Delhi, Doshi gave national flags to passing travellers. He is hoping to have a meeting with the Prime Minister and Home Minister when he is in Delhi. Doshi was reported by ANI as saying, “We want to meet PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. I went from Surat (Gujarat) to Delhi in my car in 2 days to raise people’s awareness of the campaign.

Even while Doshi’s initiative may be commendable, it’s unclear whether the changes he made to his cars were authorised by the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The RTO must give the go-ahead for such modifications in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Act. Otherwise, both the car and its owner can face consequences.
Whether Doshi has approvals or not, the national flag mounted on the bonnet of Jaguar XF, could also land him in trouble. The India Flag Code, which lists out rules on usage of national flags, has strict guidance on correct usage while mounting flags on private vehicles. Such offence could even lead to imprisonment.
