Hellcat Redeye Super Stock vs Camaro, SRT4 & Hellcats – 1/4 Mile Drag Races

When it debuted for the 2018 model year, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon took drag strips by storm. The 2020 Challenger SRT Super Stock isn’t a Demon, but its Hellcat V8 and factory drag slicks make it a factory-ready machine for tearing through the quarter-mile. We don’t get to see them very often, so catching one in its natural habitat is a treat.

Furthermore, this could be a preview for the recently debuted limited-run Dodge Challenger Black Ghost. It’s part of Dodge’s Last Call series for the Challenger and Charger, and it has the same supercharged 807-hp mill but no sticky drag radials. With grip, a 10-second quarter-mile pass should be possible in stock trim. We aren’t sure if the Challenger Super Stock in this video is, well, stock. But it’s wearing a Demon hood and it has absolutely no problem ripping through the 10s… and then some.

The action takes place at Orlando Speed World dragway in this video clip from the Drag Racing and Car Stuff YouTube channel. The first Super Stock race features a Camaro ZL1 that appears to be stock, as it runs a 12.69 at 112 mph. Meanwhile, the Challenger accelerates to 10.02 seconds at 136 mph right away.

Normally, we’d go through these races in order, but we’re going to skip ahead to the Super Stock race against a pair of Hellcats. The first race is a Plum Crazy Challenger, and it has the potential to be the best of the entire event. The Super Stock driver is knocked out at the start, and it appears that the purple Challenger is going for the win. But the Super Stock sneaks by at the very end with a 9.81-second pass.

The next race is a black Charger Hellcat, and it’s also a close one, but the Super Stock wins. It’s also a battle won on the first half of the track, with the Charger reaching 145 mph in the quarter mile to the Challenger’s 139 mph. The Super Stock, on the other hand, completed the run in 9.8 seconds, compared to 10.1 seconds for the Hellcat sedan.

Now for the race we didn’t do. In the midst of all this V8 rumble is the heroic buzzing of a turbocharged four-cylinder powering the front wheels of a Dodge Neon. It is an SRT-4, and it is not stock. We won’t say which car wins this battle, but we will say this: At the end of the quarter mile, this little Neon is going 143 mph. Win or lose, that’s seriously impressive.
