One rarely has the opportunity to see a gorgeously modified Royal Enfield Classic 500 on Indian roads. We appreciate Deepu C Pillai providing the images of Holy Crank Customs’ Classic 500 Zeus, a completely customised Scrambler. Although the word Classic conjures up images of a typical retro-modern design, the narrative in this case takes a completely opposite path, with no elements veering in the direction of history. You would like riding on that ribbed, flat seat that looks and feels different from any other production-spec Royal Enfield because it was made with the intention of creating individual character.

The engine, which was based on a 2013 RE Classic 500, was given a custom free flow exhaust unit in place of the extra-long Royal Enfield exhaust and was given a black motif. A unique bar that is situated taller than both the Bullet and Classic series replaced the handlebar. This makes it easier to keep an upright stance on the new seat and even makes it possible to “stand up and drive” on off-road courses.

As opposed to the Classic range of bikes, which feature thinner forks and a poorer ride quality, the front suspension was taken from the Thunderbird series. With NGK Iridium spark plugs, a BMC air filter, and the performance exhaust system, Zeus’ on-road output was somewhat improved.

The fenders are made to order and considerably lighter than the factory model. For a true Scrambler vibe, the rear one can be taken off, however doing so renders the vehicle unfit for usage on public roads because the brake light, indicators, and number plate are also gone. Zeus was equipped with dual-purpose tyres to enable it attain the best off-road traction possible.

A 499cc, single-cylinder engine with 27.2 BHP and 41.3 Nm of torque powers the Classic 500. The engine is connected to a 5-speed transmission. Zeus is quite light in comparison to the factory bike, which weighs 194 kg, because to its lack of a front fairing, light fenders, and aftermarket instrument dashboard.
