Honda, Acura Expand Certified Pre-Owned Program To 10-Year-Old Vehicles

Young, first-time buyers can now purchase decade-old vehicles from Honda and Acura dealers.

Honda and Acura both announced the expansion of their Certified Pre-Owned programmes at the same time. This year, Japanese manufacturers are offering certified pre-owned vehicles up to ten years old.

Acura is the first luxury manufacturer to do so, and Honda intends to cement its position as the second best-selling Certified Pre-Owned vehicle brand in America by 2021.

HondaTrue Used is a programme that covers Honda vehicles up to ten years old with no mileage restrictions. All Certified Pre-Owned Honda vehicles go through a thorough history and quality check, and any maintenance issues are addressed. A checklist outlining the full 112-point inspection performed by a licenced Honda mechanic is also available for download.

Acura Precision Used, meanwhile, gives the same 10-year, unlimited-mileage warranty for its premium vehicles up to ten years old. It’s a step up from Acura Precision Certified, which only covered vehicles up to 6 years old or with 80,000 miles on them.

A 100-day/5,000-mile limited warranty (powertrain and non-powertrain coverage), complimentary oil change, up to 12 months or 12,000 miles of emergency roadside assistance, trip-interruption expense reimbursement, and concierge services are all included in HondaTrue Used coverage, as well as a complimentary three-month trial of SiriusXM and a 3-day/300-mile exchange policy.

Acura Precision Used provides the same services but with a 6-month or 7,500-mile limited warranty.

The market for secondhand automobiles has grown in popularity in recent years, encouraging manufactures to expand their options. Due to the increased demand for quality pre-owned vehicles, used car inventories has been running short recently.

In January, GM launched CarBravo, a used automobile shopping service that sold a diverse inventory of vehicles that included non-GM vehicles.
