Honda Planning To Launch A New Small Electric SUV In 2023

Honda is planned to deliver a new small electric SUV in worldwide markets in 2023, alongside a hybrid SUV and the next-generation CR-V. The zero-emission SUV will be based on the e: Ny1 Prototype, which was unveiled just hours ago, and is expected to play a key position in the brand’s future product lineup.

It foreshadows the design language of future electrified SUVs, and the technologies included are a forerunner to the future. The e: Ny1 electric SUV, according to the Japanese automaker, will be an excellent choice for families wishing to buy their first electric car and jump into the future of mobility.

In international markets, Honda has been selling the CR-V brand since 1997, and it is now in its fifth generation. Before the Civic and the CR-V were axed, the current CR-V was also on the market in India. Its six-year reign will come to an end next year, as a brand-new model with powerful hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options are in the works.

At the occasion, Honda also debuted a hybridized Civic hatchback for the European market. This will help to ensure that a full lineup of electric versions is available by the end of the year since the vehicle is set to go on sale in the autumn. The Honda Jazz, Jazz Crosstour, CR-V, and HR-V are among the existing hybrid vehicles, while the Honda E city runabout is also available in Europe, with a claimed driving range of roughly 220 km on a single charge.

In comparison to the E city vehicle, the e: Ny1 electric SUV will have a longer driving range and will be the same size as the Jazz premium hatchback. It is supported by Honda’s modular e: N Architecture F, which will be seen in a number of upcoming electric vehicles. The new hybrid SUV will be similar in size to the CR-V and will compete with Toyota’s RAV4.

Honda SUV Rivals

The next-generation Honda CR-V will be bumped up the list since it will compete directly with the Skoda Kodiaq. As it prepares to go all-electric around the globe by 2040, Honda wants to have electric vehicle and FCEV sales account for 40% of total volumes in Europe by the end of this decade.
