Car Sales Report January 2022

Hyundai India has reclaimed its position as the country’s second-largest automaker from Tata Motors, which had overtaken the Korean automaker in December 2021 sales. Hyundai India’s total domestic sales in January 2022 were 44,022 units, while Tata Motors sold 40,777 passenger vehicles, giving the former a lead of almost 3000 units. However, compared to 52,005 automobiles sold in January 2021, the business saw a 15.35 percent drop in domestic sales year over year. However, as compared to the 32,312 units sold in December 2021, the firm experienced a 36 percent month-over-month increase in January 2022.

Hyundai Claims Second Position On Sales Chart

Hyundai now claims that the drop in output is mostly due to a global scarcity of semiconductor chips, which has had a significant impact on vehicle manufacturing. Given that the majority of Hyundai’s newer vehicles have the firm’s connected car technology, the chip scarcity is putting a lot of pressure on the company. Furthermore, the corporation faces severe competition from companies such as Tata Motors, which witnessed a 51% increase in January 2022.

Hyundai January Sales And Production

Hyundai also held its status as India’s leading passenger car exporter in January 2022. Last month, the automaker shipped 9,405 vehicles from India, a 16 percent increase over the 8,100 vehicles exported in the same month in 2021. However, as compared to the 16,621 automobiles exported in December 2021, the automaker suffered a massive 43.4 percent decrease in January 2022.
