2022 Hyundai Stargazer will based on a modified platform of Creta and Kia Seltos, just like the Kia KY MPV
In 2021 Hyundai captured the entire consumers volume by launching their impressive product in the Indian Automobile Industry. After the quarter of a century now brand found its position at the top of the list in the country. However, this these days Korean manufacturer trying to taste different segments, thus introducing a lot now product in the industry, though it never introduced a proper MPV in India.
Since long Hyundai is trying to extend their lineup to the new MPV segment. About a decade ago, at the 2012 Auto Expo, Hyundai had showcased their India-Specs MPV concept in the form of Hexa Space. Later on their production version snapped on the Indian road several time however due to certain unfortunate condition the entire MPV project has been cancelled.
Internationally Hyundai has working on a several MPV like Staria and Custo but it is safe to assume that both these models are too premium for attracting sales numbers in India. However, Hyundai fail to make its decision for targeting the right MPV segment thus cancelling the launch plan MPV seems to be wrong. While, compititor Maruti in that segment still leading with Ertiga and premium version XL6.
Does Kia Launching MPV ?
It’s not officially confirmed so far as but Kia has already started their work on the MPV internally codename KY. While this latest MPV from Hyundai has been spotted on multiple occasions last year in South Korea and China, this MPV spotted very frist time in the Indonesia. Local media report suggests that this MPV will be manufactured at Hyundai’s manufacturing facility in Kota Delta Mas, Bekasi in West Java.

Under the hood this MPV may get the same engine which we can find on the very latest launch Hyundai Alcazar which includes 1.5-litre CRDi diesel unit and a 2.0-litre MPi petrol unit. Thus it comes out 114 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque whereas the latter generates 157 bhp and 192 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties could be handled by either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
Comparing with it Rival Maruti XL6 it’s surely going to be longer than Ertiga/XL6. There’s no doubt about Hyundai’s / Kia premiumness it’s definitely going to a more premium. If and when launched in India, this MPV could be slotted above Ertiga in price. It will also rival its cousin from Kia and Mahindra Marazzo.
