Kia Syros Launched In India, Prices Start From Rs 9 Lakh

Kia India has revealed the Syros subcompact SUV’s pricing. The car is available in six different trim levels: HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and HTX+(O). The base price is Rs 9 lakh, while the most expensive model costs Rs 17 lakh. However, the company also mentioned that Level-2 ADAS technologies would only be offered at an extra Rs 80,000 above the top trim level. The Syros is Kia’s second subcompact SUV for the Indian market, and it was first shown in December 2024. The Syros is marketed as a more expensive alternative to the Sonet, with identical powertrains but greater creature comforts and technology. Deliveries of the car will start in February, according to a previous statement by Kia.

Visually, the Syros is in keeping with vehicles like the Kia EV9, EV5, and EV3 since it uses Kia’s most recent design language for international markets. The vehicle has low-set headlamps up front with vertically stacked projectors that reach the wheel arches and sides. Additionally, the Syros has a sizable air dam in front that is divided in half. The Syros has a tall glasshouse, a flat roofline, and a boxy shape when viewed from above. The extensive use of cladding around the wheel arches is another striking design feature. The Syros has a distinctive tail-lamp design at the back, with additional lighting units located lower on the bumper and L-shaped lights positioned along the windscreen’s edge.

The cabin layout of the Syros is quite minimalistic with very few buttons and the dashboard featuring a floating 30-inch panoramic display. The display consists of twin 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and the touchscreen infotainment system as well as a small 5-inch display for the air-con controls.

Top Syros models are loaded with technology, including a panoramic sunroof, 64-color ambient lighting, 360-degree cameras, wireless smartphone charging, drive and traction modes, an air purifier, a Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), rear seats that slide, recline, and have a ventilation function (first in the segment), and a panoramic sunroof. In addition to the ADAS already stated, the Syros comes equipped with passive safety systems including traction control, stability control, six airbags, ABS, a tyre pressure monitor, hill start assistance and front and rear parking sensors as standard.

The 1.5-liter CRDi turbo-diesel and 1.0-liter T-GDI turbo-petrol engines, which are also available in the Sonet, are the two engine options available for the Syros’ drivetrain. While the diesel is available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic, the turbo-petrol is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
