The driver of a Chevrolet Camaro SS in Las Vegas was issued two speeding citations in two minutes after deciding to have a bit too much fun behind the wheel of the powerful muscle car.
On Friday, July 15 at 8:22 p.m., at the intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard and McDaniel, North Las Vegas Police officer Alexander Cuevas made the initial stop of Jeffrey Hair. In a 35 mph (56 km/h) zone, he was recorded at 73 mph (117 km/h). That would be a painful wake-up call for the majority of people, prompting them to instantly alter their behaviour and slow down. That wasn’t the case in this instance.
According to 3 News, the 36-year-old was stopped again less than two minutes after the first traffic stop was cleared by the police, but this time on 5th Street south of Brooks. In addition to being caught and pulled over for speeding a second time, he was also going even faster this time, with a speed of 106 mph (170 km/h) in a 35 mph (56 km/h) zone.
Hair received more than just a speeding ticket for this second infraction. Instead, he was taken into custody and charged with careless driving. Authorities tow his Camaro as well.
According to the authorities, the arrest took place during a multi-jurisdictional “joining forces” exercise between many Las Vegas police departments designed to catch speeders like Hair.
Recall that the 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that powers the Chevrolet Camaro SS produces 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft (617 Nm) of torque. Even while this Camaro isn’t the fastest or most powerful one available, it has more than enough performance to get you into trouble. So it’s best to keep going down the track at this speed.
