BYD plans to debut the new eMAX 7 MPV in India today. The eMAX 7 is essentially a facelifted e6 MPV, with BYD renaming the model for the Indian market, giving it a design refresh, adding more features, and now including a third row of seats. Bookings for the eMAX 7 are currently open, with BYD providing early customers with a variety of incentives, including complimentary wall chargers.

BYD eMAX 7: Interior

The most significant change to the cabin will be the inclusion of a third row of seats. Unlike the e6, which only has five seats, the eMAX 7 will seat up to seven people, with the second row including either a bench or captain seats depending on the configuration. On the feature front, the eMAX 7 will carry over much of the gear from the e6, with some major additions. These will include a panoramic sunroof and a larger central touchscreen, among other features.

BYD eMAX 7: Design

On the design aspect, the eMAX 7 adheres to the family design motif of recent BYD models. The new thin headlamps, enclosed grille, and sporty bumper give it a more aggressive appearance up front, while a redesigned tail lamp design and new bumper round out the modifications in back.

In recent years, there has been an increase in demand for adventure-focused and off-road motorcycles. While there are numerous alternatives in the premium market of this type of motorbike, there are surprisingly few options on the opposite end of the spectrum. So far, the Hero Xpulse 200 4V is the most economical alternative on the market, followed by the Yezdi Adventure, the more road-oriented Suzuki V-Strom SX, and several more. Seeing an opportunity here, Kawasaki India plans to launch a road-legal version of the KLX 230 Rs off-road vehicle, the KLX 230 S. Set to be introduced on October 17, the brand has been working on localizing the construction of the motorcycle since spy photographs of the bike had been earlier.

Kawasaki KLX 230 S: Engine

Moving on to the Kawasaki KLX 230 S’s powertrain, the dual-sport bike is driven by an air-cooled 233 cc single-cylinder engine capable of producing 19.73 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 20.3 Nm at 6,000 rpm, linked to a 5-speed transmission, which is similar to the Xpulse 200 4V. The motor is housed within the high-tensile steel, box-section perimeter frame and is supported by a 37 mm telescopic fork in the front and a Uni-Trak connected monoshock in the rear. The bike has 21-18 wire spoke wheels with dual-purpose tyres. Meanwhile, disc brakes on both ends manage the braking.

Kawasaki KLX 230 S: Features, Specs

Unlike the KLX 230 Rs, the road-legal KLX 230 S will have a headlamp, indicators, mirrors, dual-purpose tyres, and registration, allowing it to be legally ridden on paved roads. The design is identical to its off-road counterpart, but improvements have been made to make it more roadworthy. In the international market, where the KLX 230 S is already available, the motorcycle has 198 mm front and 220 mm rear suspension travel, a seat height of 843 mm, and a ground clearance of 239. Now, for the Indian market, Kawasaki appears to have modified these data to make the motorcycle more suitable for Indian riders.

Exact specifications will be available at the time of launch. Furthermore, the KLX 230 S weighs 133 kg worldwide, and the addition of the skirt guard and front number plate is expected to increase that weight by a few pounds. For perspective, the Hero Xpulse 200 4V weighs 159 kg, making the Kawasaki the lighter of the two bikes.

McLaren Automotive has finally unveiled the much-anticipated successor to the P1. The W1 is the most powerful road-going model ever produced by the British supercar manufacturer. McLaren has said that manufacturing of the W1 will be limited to 399 units, each costing at a hefty GBP 2 million, with the cars already reserved for buyers.

McLaren W1: Powertrain

The RWD hypercar’s hybrid engine system combines a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 with an E-module, which includes a motorsport-derived electric motor and a motor control unit. The flat-plane crank V8 produces 915 bhp on its own, the highest power output of any McLaren engine, and revs to 9,200 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

McLaren claims that the 342 bhp electric motor weighs only 20 kg and has a specific output that is directly comparable to electric motors used in Formula 1.The overall output is 1258 bhp and 1340 Nm of peak torque. With a top speed of 350 kmph, the W1 can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 2.7 seconds, 200 kmph in 5.8 seconds, and 300 kmph in under 12.7 seconds.

McLaren W1: Design, Features

In terms of appearance, the W1 shares little with the rest of McLaren’s lineup. It has a more upright, less curved look than its predecessor, the P1. The front end has aggressive-looking headlights and several air vents that improve aerodynamic efficiency. The W1 features anhedral doors that pivot upward and are hinged to the ceiling. Other design characteristics include huge rear haunches with air intakes that draw air from the front wheel arches’ outlets. The large diffuser and slim, flowing tail lamps make up the most of the rear end.

Inside, the W1 features adjustable pedals and lightweight upholstery. Other amenities include an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connection, as well as a Bowers and Wilkins audio system.

Another talking point about the W1 is its complex aerodynamic elements, which work together to generate a significant 1000 kg of downforce. The suspension has been engineered to improve aerodynamic efficiency, with the bottom wishbones of the pushrod and inboard damper system lifted slightly to keep air flowing smoothly towards the car’s rear. Another intriguing aspect is that it uses 3D-printed uprights and control to conserve weight. The rear arrangement has a Z-bar with actuated droplinks. The automobile has three suspension settings: comfort, sport, and race. The car has 390 mm disc brakes on all ends, with 6-piston calipers on the front and 4-piston calipers on the rear. McLaren boasts that the W1 can come to a stop from 100 kmph in 29 metres and 200 kmph in 100 metres. Overall, the W1 has a dry weight of 1399 kg.
