US-based Tesla rival Lucid has announced the company’s first electric luxury sedan The Lucid Air Dream Edition. And on top of the notch, the Air Dream Edition has received an official range of more than 830Kms. This now makes it the car with the longest range of electric vehicles in the United States.
Lucid made the declaration after the EV maker got an official rating from the US Environmental Protection Agency, the body which confirms the official range of electric vehicles in the country. The agency evaluated the Lucid Air Dream Edition with an official range of 520 miles (823 km) on a single charge. It is almost 200 km more than its opponent Tesla Model S Long Range, which has a 651 km of range.

Lucid intends to construct less than 500 Air Dream Edition electric luxury vehicles which will have the 823-km range. The electric vehicle is probably going to cost $169,000 (generally changed over to ₹1.25 crore). The carmaker’s Grand Touring variant of the Air vehicle was additionally assessed to have a scope of 516 miles (around 830 km). This variant of Lucid Air is expected to go for production this year and may cost around $139,000 (somewhat over ₹1 crore). Different varieties of the vehicle all have estimated ranges that are more prominent than 700 km.
Lucid will manufacture its electric vehicles at its factory in Casa Grande in Arizona. The EV manufacturing unit is expected to be built within a year and will be ready for operations by the end of this year. Last month, Lucid stated that it would start deliveries of the Air Dream Edition electric luxury vehicles later this year.
The California-based EV maker has been considered as a rival to Tesla in light of its professes to construct electric vehicles with world-beating ranges. The carmaker made its debut on the Nasdaq in July subsequent to finishing its consolidation with an organization supported by Wall Street dealmaker Michael Klein in an organization that deemed the joined organization at $24 billion.
Peter Rawlinson, CEO of Lucid Motor and also the former chief engineer of Tesla’s Model S sedan, said the official range of the Air Dream Edition is “a number I believe to be a new record for any EV.” The ratings have bolstered Ludic’s stocks in the share market, jumping more than eight percent after the report came out.
