Mahindra Thar 5 Door: Detailed Video of the Upcoming SUV

Everyone is aware that Mahindra has been developing a new product, and that it will be released in 2019. It is, in fact, the 5-door version of their popular 4 SUV Thar. We have come across several spy pictures and videos of the upcoming Mahindra Thar but, now we have a detailed video that shows how the upcoming SUV looks like. The detailed video is based on a completely camouflaged test mule of the 5-door Thar that was recently spotted testing.

Talking Cars has posted the video to their YouTube channel. In this video, both presenters discuss what they noticed in the test mule, which appeared to be a production-ready version of the 5-door Thar. Starting with the front, the SUV resembled the 3-door version. Mahindra is offering the same grille and round halogen headlamps with integrated fog lamps in the bumper. The bumper design on the test vehicle was identical to the 3-door version. The overall length of the SUV is longer than the 3-door version. The wheelbase is longer, as seen in the video, and it appears to be proportionate.

The alloy wheels on this Thar were designed similarly to those on the regular Thar, but with minor differences. The rear wheel arch cladding was missing in the test version, and the video mentions how it affected the vehicle’s overall appearance. One of the most common misconceptions about the 5-door Thar was the placement of the door and the roof. The SUV’s front door is the same as a 3-door, but the rear doors are slightly smaller. The spare wheel is mounted on the tail gate of the Mahindra Thar’s rear section. The rear windscreen is identical to that of the three-door model.

The car appears to be larger in size, as evidenced by the video. The Mahindra Thar’s interior is similar to the three-door version. The roof is made of metal and does not have a removable top (at least in this prototype). The door handles, ORVMs, and tail lamps were all standard Thar. The SUV seen here was a lower variant that lacked an infotainment system. The steering wheel had controls mounted on it, as well as the 44 lever. What makes this SUV even more practical than the 3-door version is the boot.

It gets a large boot space with second row seats up and the second row seats on this test vehicle were not the final one as there is a gap between seats and the body of the car. As of now, there is no clarity on how Mahindra will be naming this 5-door version. The SUV will be powered by the same 2.0 litre turbo petrol and 2.2 litre turbo diesel engines as the regular Thar, but in a different state of tune. The SUV is scheduled to hit the market in January 2023.
