Maruti eVX production version unveiled on November 4

The final production-spec version of Maruti’s much awaited eVX will make its global debut on November 4 in Milan, Italy. This emphasizes the eVX’s importance as a worldwide product for parent company Suzuki, as a large amount of the made-in-India EV’s production is destined for sale to Europe and Japan.

Suzuki’s Gujarat facility will produce the Maruti eVX, with a start-of-production (SOP) date of March 2025. The eVX made its Milan debut for local European journalists and dealers because the e-SUV is a global product. In fact, the first-year production objective is 1.4 lakh units, with 50% allocated for export.

Indian viewers will have to wait until the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, which runs from January 17 to 22, to see the production-spec eVX in person. However, ours will be the first market where the EV’s pricing will be published; due to delays, the launch is currently scheduled for two months after the India debut. The eVX will thereafter be launched in select European regions, followed by Japan.

The Maruti eVX production version, set to arrive in March 2025, would compete with the recently introduced Tata Curvv EV (Rs 17.49 lakh-21.99 lakh) and the impending Hyundai Creta EV. It will also produce Toyota’s eVX derivative, which was hinted at by the Urban SUV concept. This e-SUV is also set to go into production in March of next year at Suzuki’s Gujarat factory, with a price announcement due later in the year.

Expect the two EVs to share the same battery pack options (48kWh and 60kWh units are predicted), as well as the e-motor. However, Maruti has yet to clarify whether the production-spec eVX would feature AWD, as Toyota’s version is supposed to do.
