While Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the Grand Vitara in the Indian market, it will not be the end of its SUV spree. The five-door version of the Jimny four-wheel-drive SUV, which will be available in 2023, has already begun testing at the Indian automaker. Another compact crossover that Maruti Suzuki is currently testing is a tougher-looking version of the Baleno. This all-new crossover, rumoured to be called the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross, was recently spotted by YouTuber Rajni Choudhary, revealing a few key details about it.
The video shows the all-new Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross in a completely camouflaged version, though there are some design cues visible. The Baleno Cross’ overall stance isn’t as strong as that of the Brezza and Grand Vitara. However, when compared to the Baleno hatchback, the Baleno Cross appears to have more ground clearance. This new crossover’s overall silhouette is similar to that of the Baleno hatchback, with a slightly rounded roofline and raked front and rear windscreens.

The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross has a wider and bolder front fascia. The design highlights visible through the camouflage indicate that the Baleno Cross’s front fascia will be inspired by the Grand Vitara’s. This theory is supported by the wide-looking grille with unique zig-zag black inserts, split headlamps with triple-bar daytime running LEDs, and LED projector headlamps. The side profile of the Baleno Cross is similar to that of the Baleno hatchback, with the same alloy wheel design, door-mounted rear view mirrors, and door panels. It distinguishes itself, however, by having slightly squared wheel arches.
The boot lid of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross is significantly different at the back. When compared to the Baleno hatchback, the Baleno Cross appears to have a redesigned boot lid with the licence plate housing located in the middle of it rather than on the front bumper. The tail lamps are also distinct, with a prominent character line connecting them and running across the width of the boot lid.
