The Grecale had to withstand temperatures as low as -22 Fahrenheit.

The Maserati Grecale is set to make its premiere this spring, and the Italian automaker has released a fresh set of teaser photographs that show the crossover slicing through the snow. It continues to be camouflaged in a vivid red colour that stands out against the white snow.

The images depict the Grecale’s growth in Sweden and Finland’s Lapland region. The temperatures ranged from slightly above 0 degrees Celsius to -30 degrees Celsius (about 32 degrees Fahrenheit to -22 Fahrenheit). Maserati was testing the crossover’s cold-weather start-up as well as drivability features like as traction and steering.

The Grecale will provide Maserati with a model that sits below the Levante in the company’s portfolio. Despite the camouflage, the vehicle has a rounded appearance, with the exception of a somewhat flat grille with vertical uprights.

The Grecale’s cabin is seen through spy pictures (gallery below). There’s a landscape-oriented infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster. The HVAC controls appear to have their own screen where the settings may be changed.

Details on the Grecale’s powertrain are yet unknown. The performance-oriented Trofeo version is said to feature either the Maserati MC20’s 621-hp (463-kW) twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 or the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s 502-hp (374-kW) twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6. According to Maserati’s product roadmap, an electric version will be released as well.

The Grecale was supposed to make its premiere on November 16, 2021, in Milan, Italy. However, due to a global semiconductor scarcity, the business has postponed the reveal until spring 2022. Maserati said at the time that the new model’s “ground-breaking” technology necessitated the microchips, which were in short supply.

The actual premiere date for the Grecale is currently unknown, aside from a vague timeframe in the spring. For the 2023 model year, it is expected to be available. We don’t know if Maserati plans to release the Trofeo version at the same time or if the performance variant will be released later.
