McLaren 720S Dresses Up Like The F1 Car For F1 Miami Grand Prix

They’ll even hit the track during the Pirelli Hot Laps.

From May 6 to 8, the inaugural Formula One Miami Grand Prix will take place. McLaren has five customised copies of the 720S with a livery similar to that of the team’s race car to commemorate the occasion. The vehicles will be used for commercial purposes in the run-up to the event, including a display at the McLaren Hospitality Suite and running during the Pirelli Hot Laps.

Fluro Papaya orange components can be found on the car’s nose and flanks. The vibrant hue New Blue is used on the rear fenders and decklid to contrast with the bright colour.

These cars are mechanically stock save for the body wrap. The twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 produces 710 horsepower (529 kilowatts) and 568 pound-feet (770 Newton-meters) of torque. The 720S can reach 60 miles per hour (96 kilometres per hour) in 2.8 seconds and 124 miles per hour (200 kilometres per hour) in 7.8 seconds with this power. The max speed is 212 miles per hour (341 kph).

Audi is rumoured to be making bids as high as €650 million for McLaren Racing, putting the German automaker in control of the Formula One team. Audi, on the other hand, is rumoured to be considering a big investment in McLaren.

According to other claims, McLaren and BMW are working together to develop an electric car platform. This new architecture would be tailored for sports cars by the OEMs. There is currently no more information available.

The Artura is the next McLaren road car on the horizon. This is the company’s first product to use the new McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture. The car has a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with hybrid assistance that produces 671 horsepower (500 kW) and 593 lb-ft of torque (804 Nm). The vehicle accelerates to 62 mph in 3.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 205 mph with this arrangement (330 kph). An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission is the only transmission option.

A 7.4-kilowatt-hour battery is used in the hybrid system. This provides a totally electric driving range of 19 miles (31 kilometres).

Because of the chip shortfall, McLaren has postponed delivery of the Artura until July 2022. Previously, a software provider issue had pushed the launch back from its original schedule.
