It’s likely replacing the McLaren 570S GT4.
McLaren like racing, so it’s no surprise that track variants of its vehicles are available. The 570S GT4 is presently available, but it’s an older model, having debuted for the track in 2016. If a new spy footage is correct, it may not be around for much longer. It’s said to show a new McLaren track car being tested at Monza Circuit – a camouflaged Artura with a large wing.
The footage doesn’t go near enough to the car to view the details, although on some passes, a big chin spoiler can be seen. The large wing is also apparent, although the camouflage does a good job of hiding any other aesthetic alterations. McLaren is expected to give the car new front and rear fascias, as well as other changes, to improve cooling and heat extraction.

Early in 2021, McLaren unveiled the Artura, which included an electrified twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. The hybrid powertrain has a combined output of 671 horsepower (500 kilowatts) and torque of 593 pound-feet (804 Newton-meters). The track car’s powerplant, however, will not be that. The electric component will be removed, but the engine will still produce 557 horsepower (430 kW) and 431 lb-ft (584 Nm) of torque.
The car will likely have restrictions on the engine to allow it to race in certain classes, like GT4, where it could compete against the Supra GT4 and others. However, we do not know the specifics of this race car. It could be the Artura GT4 or the Artura Sprint, following in the tire tracks of the 570S Sprint that McLaren also offered. We will need closer spy photos to really dissect what McLaren is testing at the race track.
