Moss and co-pilot Ann Wisdom won 1962’s Tulip Rally.
In 1962, Mini won its first international rally race. Pat Moss, the younger sister of Formula One legend Sterling Moss, drove the Mini Cooper to victory. Mini is launching a special Pat Moss Edition model for International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 8, to commemorate Pat’s victory in the male-dominated sport 60 years later.
Moss and her co-pilot Ann Wisdom won the Tulip Rally, and the Mini will get a few aesthetic improvements to honour them. The race’s information is displayed on the front fender scuttles, which will take Pat and Ann from Denmark to the French Rivera and back. The two were the fastest of the contestants, covering 1,553 miles (2,500 kilometres) in the shortest amount of time.
The Pat Moss Edition will come standard with Mini’s unique Multitone Roof, but it will also be available in a new colour scheme that goes from Chili Red to Melting Silver to Jet Black. Because of the painting procedure, each roof will have its own colour pattern. Regardless of the basic exterior colour, Mini offers the special edition model in Pepper White or Midnight Black metallic with red mirror caps.
The C-pillars, side scuttles, and wheel hub covers feature a tulip motif, while a horizontal white bonnet stripe helps display the winning Mini registration number 737 ABL from 1962. Inside and exterior, Pat Moss’ signature is visible, as is the tulip design on the door sill plates and steering wheel spoke.
In the United States, Mini will only sell the Pat Moss Edition as a two-door John Cooper Works Hardtop model, which will debut in August for the 2023 model year. Mini’s order books open this month, and pricing will be announced closer to the launch date. Only 800 Pat Moss Edition Cooper S Hardtops will be built for the entire world, with other markets receiving the special edition vehicle as a two- or four-door Cooper S Hardtop as well.
When the Mini Cooper Pat Moss Edition goes on sale in the United States, it will include all of the standard features found in the JCW with Iconic Trim, as well as Mini’s parking assist and adaptive cruise control. It will be available with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
