KTM, which acquired a 50.1% interest in MV Agusta less than a year ago, is currently experiencing a financial problem, and the Italian company has cut connections with the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer.
MV Agusta has officially declared its departure from KTM. The Italian motorcycle maker declared that Art of Mobility S.A., owned by the Sardarov family, will retake complete control of the MV Agusta Group. This comes after news appeared in December 2024 that KTM was considering ending the partnership with MV Agusta.
In March 2024, KTM purchased a majority 50.1 percent ownership in MV Agusta via its parent company Pierer Mobility AG. The alliance aimed to boost MV Agusta’s operations by utilizing KTM’s resources and distribution networks. However, financial difficulties at Pierer Mobility AG in recent months appear to have impacted the decision to separate ways, with MV Agusta now officially regaining independence.

With the separation, MV Agusta claims that it is untouched by KTM’s current financial restructuring, allowing the Italian brand to operate free of external financial pressures. One of MV Agusta’s top responsibilities during this transition is to protect its supplier and dealer network from any potential disruptions caused by KTM’s restructuring, according to the firm.
Despite the ownership shift, MV Agusta claims to have made financial gains. The corporation claims that its financial status has improved over the last 18 months as a result of a revitalized leadership. In 2024 alone, MV Agusta sold 4,000 motorcycles, a 116% increase over 2023.
MV Agusta has assured customers and stakeholders that its global sales and servicing operations will continue uninterrupted. The company presently has 219 active sales points worldwide, including 41 service centers, and intends to expand to 270 sites by the end of the year.
Timur Sardarov, CEO of Art of Mobility S.A, stated, “This is a proud moment for everyone at MV Agusta.” Regaining complete control of the company means that we are stronger and more focused than ever on producing greatness. Over the last two years, the company has considerably improved its procedures, systems, and people. These fundamental reforms are the cornerstone of the outstanding results achieved in 2024, and they will continue to fuel our success in the years ahead.”
He continued, “I have complete faith in our leadership team, whose vision, along with the passion and professionalism of our revitalized dealer network, will propel MV Agusta to new heights. My goal, and that of my family, is to be a driving force for the Varese team, the region, and all of our partners.
