New BMW M Car Will Debut At 2022 Goodwood Festival Of Speed

BMW isn’t identifying the vehicle yet, but there are some possibilities.

The BMW Motorsport division will commemorate 50 years in 2022 during the Goodwood Festival Of Speed, which will involve the introduction of a new M model. There will also be a sculpture dedicated to the brand’s past automobiles. The Festival of Speed will take place from Thursday, June 23 through Sunday, June 26.

“We couldn’t think of a better setting to commemorate our 50th anniversary than with lovers of the brand. I’m really excited to show a certain vehicle to the world for the first time – a vehicle we’ve been waiting for for a long time “According to BMW M division CEO Frank van Meel.

The M vehicle BMW expects to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed could take several forms. It’s possible that it’s the new M2. According to an earlier teaser, production will begin in Mexico’s San Luis Potos towards the end of 2022.

The S58 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbocharged engine from the M4 is said to be used in the M2. There’s a chance it’ll come with a six-speed manual transmission. Vehicle testing with quad center-exit exhaust outlets is seen in spy images.

Another contender for the upcoming M model introduction is the BMW M3 Touring. According to current rumours, it could debut in June, the same month as this year’s Festival of Speed.

The M3 Touring is a sedan with an expanded roof that allows passengers to carry more luggage. The 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine in the four-door M3 is said to produce 503 horsepower (375 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. According to reports, the drivetrain is an eight-speed automatic with all-wheel drive. A manual transmission and rear-wheel drive are not expected.

The reveal may be a dedicated M vehicle, which is a long shot. BMW was said to be planning something special for the M division’s 50th anniversary, according to a report from late 2021. The vehicle was rumoured to be offered in extremely restricted quantities. However, after the initial rumour, there have been no further details concerning this model.
