Nexon EV Rival Mahindra XUV400 To Launch In Early 2023

Mahindra & Mahindra has been teasing a trio of Born Electric vehicles for the past few weeks, with an unveiling planned for the middle of the year. The EVs will be revealed in concept form, and their production-spec avatars will most likely appear in the near future. Mahindra is expected to release a few electrified cars ahead of their arrival.

The domestic SUV specialist is expected to launch the eKUV100, an electrified micro SUV, in the Indian market before the end of the year, aimed at youthful clients. According to the report, the five-seater will be priced under Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and will have a claimed driving range of at least 250 kilometers on a single charge.

Mahindra XUV400 Launch Expectations

It also stated that the Mahindra eKUV100 is in the final phases of testing and development. The Mahindra eXUV300 is also expected to be released in early 2023, and it has already been spotted in testing. The eKUV100 and eXUV300, as well as the Funster concept and a quadricycle, had their global debut at the 2020 Auto Show in near-production status.

The eXUV300 might be used to carry the production XUV400, and it will share numerous features with the IC-powered XUV300, which is also slated for an update in January 2023. The Mahindra XUV400 will feature a charging plug on the front left-hand side of the fender, and it will sit slightly lower to the ground, according to the test mules.

The eXUV300 concept from a few years back has two battery pack options: one will likely compete with the Tata Nexon EV, while the larger battery could compete with the future long-range Nexon EV with a drive range of roughly 400 kilometers. The latter might compete with the Hyundai Kona Electric and the freshly facelifted MG ZS EV in terms of price, and it could undercut them.

Mahindra plans to deliver eight electric vehicles by 2027, with the born electric architecture serving as the foundation for four new electric SUVs that will be designed from the ground up beginning in 2025.
