Next-Gen Maruti Alto K10 Spied

After being discounted around the introduction of BS6 norms in early 2020, the Maruti Alto K10 looks set to re-enter our market, albeit in a new guise. Two test mules for the upcoming entry-level model were recently spotted during a TV commercial shoot. Vipul Chaudhary, an avid reader, shared a spy image from the sighting with us. The upcoming small car, codenamed Y0M, should help MSIL completely dominate the entry-level segment with a strong three-model lineup that includes the Alto 800, S-Presso, and Alto K10.

Unfortunately, the slightly blurry image doesn’t reveal much about the hatchback’s looks. However, it’s clear that the small car has a grey dashboard, small wheels that are likely 13-inch in diameter, and taillights that look similar to the new Celerio. Meanwhile, the rear door resembles the one on the S-Presso. The roof reinforcements and plastic wheel caps for the steel wheels are also noticeable features. Overall, the silhouette resembles that of the S-Presso and the new Celerio.

Despite the fact that the entry-level car market has shrunk in recent years, Maruti Suzuki believes there is still a demand for another small car to complement the Alto 800 and S-Presso. Gaurav Vangaal, associate director, light vehicle forecasting, S&P Global Mobility, previously told Financial Express that the existing 7.8 percent market share of entry-level hatchbacks is sufficient to justify the introduction of another new model. The relaunch of the Alto K10 will not only help Maruti cement its position in the affordable car market but will also provide buyers with another option. With the discontinuation of the Hyundai Eon and the Datsun redi-GO, Maruti’s only competitor at the moment is the Renault Kwid.

Maruti Suzuki is expected to increase its A-segment sales with the reintroduction of the Maruti Alto K10. Already in FY22, the Alto and S-Presso have accounted for nearly 212,000 units. Around a decade after its introduction, the Alto was joined by the K10 variant. The 1000cc version was available until the introduction of the S-Presso a few years ago. (Alprazolam) Across two generations, the Alto has sold over 4.3 million copies. In fact, it was the country’s best-selling vehicle from 2005 to 2018, before being surpassed by the Dzire.
