Tuned BMW 340i XDrive vs Nissan GTR R35, the Walk is Real – Drag and Roll Race

The BMW 3 Series, at least in the F30 generation, has been praised by enthusiasts and owners alike as a great car. The 340i can already deliver healthy numbers that should make its driver smile, even without going beyond the bounds of purchasing the M3. The top-spec non-M 3er, however, is in no way more potent than a stock Nissan GT-R. Unless the 3.0 litre B58 straight-six engine in the Bimmer gets a tune similar to that of the Nissan sports coupe, of course.

That’s what we’ve got here: a battle between a stock Godzilla and a tuned BMW 340i, courtesy of YouTuber Sam CarLegion. According to the owner’s claims, the aftermarket upgrades involved changes to the engine’s internals, giving it a theoretical capacity of 500 horsepower (373 kilowatts) and 450 pound-feet (610 Newton-meters) of torque. The curb weight with the all-wheel drive system is 3,820 pounds (1,733 kilograms).

Meanwhile, the 2018 Nissan GT-R uses a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine that produces 565 hp (421 kW) and 467 lb-ft (633 Nm) of torque. The Nissan was undoubtedly more powerful, but there’s a deciding factor: at 3,915 lbs (1,776 kg).

Can the GT-greater R’s power make up for its heavier weight? Evidently not.

The tuned BMW 3 Series completely destroyed the Nissan coupe, as seen in the numerous races, both from a dig and rolling starts. It wasn’t even close, which raised some doubts about the owner’s claimed figures. No matter how skilled the driver was, the 340i couldn’t have been producing only 500 horses, as many commenters on the video noted.

What do you think? Did the tuned 3er here understated its power output? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
