Peugeot 308 Wins Women's World Car Of The Year

The French model beat five other vehicles for the award.

The Peugeot 308 has been named the winner of the Women’s World Car of the Year competition in 2022, according to the female jury. This year, 56 female automotive journalists from 40 nations across five continents voted, with the winner being presented on International Women’s Day, “a particularly important occasion because it provides women a voice and because of the link between the automobile and personal autonomy in many countries.”

This year, a total of 65 contenders were eligible to compete, and the best cars in six categories were chosen in the first round of voting. The winners were announced on February 15, and the final vote was based on the six winners. The Peugeot 308 is the only car that may be crowned Women’s World Car of the Year. According to Marta Garcia, executive president of WWCOTY, the final voting this year was “closer than ever.”

These are the six category winners:

– Urban Model: Peugeot 308
– Familiy SUV: Kia Sportage
– Large Car: Ford Mustang Mach-E
– Large SUV: BMW iX
– Performance Car: Audi e-Tron GT
– Pure 4X4 & Pick Up: Jeep Wrangler 4xe

“The Peugeot 308 is a car that has almost everything you might want in a vehicle. It drives extremely well, and it’s hard to imagine most models have only a 1.2-liter engine under the hood “Sandy Myhre, a New Zealander, adds his two cents. As a reminder, the new 308 is available with a 1.2-liter turbo gasoline engine, a 1.5-liter diesel engine, and two plug-in hybrid alternatives, depending on the market. The traditional powertrains come standard with a six-speed manual transmission, with an eight-speed automatic transmission available as an option.

The French model is now available in Europe as a hatchback and waggon, both of which are manufactured at Stellantis’ Mulhouse plant.
