Porsche has set a new lap record for road-legal production cars on the legendary Nuerburgring Nordschleife circuit in a 911 GT2 RS. The new production car lap record was set by development driver Lars Kern with help from engineers at Manthey-Racing.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS has beaten the time record set up by itself by 4.747 seconds. The new production car lap record was set by development driver Lars Kern with help from engineers at Manthey-Racing.
The car did its fastest lap around the 20.8 Km long Nuerburgring Nordschleife circuit in 6:43.300 minutes. The previous existing record was 6:48.047 minutes.

Kern says, “The 911 GT2 RS sticks to the track like glue with the Manthey Performance Kit. You feel as if you’re in a racing car, especially on faster corners. It is truly breath-taking how the car puts its 700 PS down, and how incredibly well it brakes while always remaining easy to control”.
Porsche claims, This lap did during a high summer heat period of temperature 41 degrees Celcius. Porsche also claims that the car carried an average speed of 185.87km/h during its lap around the fearsome German race track.

The new track focus kits are available in the European auto market and will soon available in other world markets. Under the hood, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS draws power from a 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged, flat-six engine that generates a maximum power of 690hp and a peak torque of 750Nm.
The mill is linked to a 7-speed DCT gearbox and a rear-wheel-drive system. Special brake pads and a Manthey-designed Coil cover suspension kit with front and rear dampers are also available.
