Renault Kwid 2023 Launched In India With BS62.0 Compliant Engines

Renault has updated its Kwid hatchback to comply with BS6 2. With the improvements, it now comes standard with a tire-pressure monitoring system, ESP, hill start aid (AT only), and traction control across the board. This emission upgrade also adds a new entry-level RXE model to the Kwid range, priced at Rs 4.69 lakh. Bookings for the revised model began today at all Renault dealerships. In addition, turn indicators on the ORVM and steering-mounted audio and phone controls are now available on some Kwid models.

The Renault Kwid is powered by two petrol engines: an 800cc three-cylinder generating 52bhp/72Nm and connected to a five-speed manual transmission. It is also available with a more powerful 1.0-liter engine delivering 67bhp/91Nm. This engine is available with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic manual transmission.

The company stated in a statement that with the adoption of the second stage of BS6, all Renault vehicles will be fitted with a self-diagnostic device. The gadget, together with other important emission equipment such as the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors, will continually check the vehicle’s emission levels while driving.

“Renault India is dedicated to the Government of India’s objective for a clean and green environment,” stated Venkatram Mamillapalle, country CEO and MD, in response to the launch. The introduction of new BSVI Step 2 certified petrol engines throughout the range will result in significant emissions reductions, leading to a safer and cleaner environment. “We place a premium on safety, and the addition of additional class-leading safety features in our new 2023 range reinforces our commitment to provide goods that meet the best global standards of safety and access to Indian customers,” he said.
