Sony Honda Afeela EV To Challenge Tesla – Report

Sony Honda Afeela EV To Challenge Tesla – Report

Sony Group Corp. and Honda Motor Co. have decided to pool their resources to develop futuristic electric vehicles. This collaboration debuted its initial prototype during Sony’s CES press presentation in Las Vegas. “Cars carrying the new label will capitalize on the experience of Sony Group Corp. and Honda Motor Co,” stated Yasuhide Mizuno, Chief Executive Officer of Sony Honda Mobility. Furthermore, the partnership is working with Qualcomm Inc. and Epic Games Inc. to allow 5G connection and entertainment. Let’s examine more closely at the new Afeela EV.

Sony Honda Electric Vehicle to Compete with Tesla

Sony Honda Mobility Inc hopes to compete with Tesla Inc with the new Afeela EV. Cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors are among the 45 sensors found in the new vehicle. It will be updated on a regular basis. Qualcomm is developing Snapdragon Digital Chassis to allow this. “It is a software-defined car,” stated Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon. The joint company will market all of its electric vehicles under the Afeela name. All devices, like Tesla automobiles, will receive frequent upgrades.

Tesla Inc. was the first to provide experiences in linked vehicles. It improves on this each time with the addition of new games and features. While Tesla has a significant advantage as an early entry, the electric vehicle industry is already highly saturated. As a result, new entrants are now following Tesla’s lead and partnering with electronics companies. Honda intends to combine its automotive expertise with Sony’s expertise in entertainment, networking, and sensing. This will speed up the development of smart electric cars. Volkswagen AG and other European automakers are following suit.

Sony also collaborates with Epic Games.

Sony Honda Mobility Inc made its formal debut in October of this year. The joint venture intends to sell luxury electric vehicles in North America and Japan. The first automotive models are scheduled to be released in 2026. Sony Honda Mobility Inc has worked with Epic Games in addition to Qualcomm Inc. Epic Games Inc. will collaborate with Sony Honda to improve user experience. “Epic Games will collaborate with Sony Honda to provide connected automobile experiences that set the standard not just in visual communication and safety, but also in entertainment,” said Kim Libreri, Epic Games’ Chief Technology Officer.
