Tata Motors Records Highest-Ever EV Sales In FY2021-22

Tata Motors revealed that in FY2021-22, it sold 19,106 electric vehicles, its best yearly sales figure ever. With 4,219 electric vehicles delivered in FY2020-21, this is a 352.86 percent growth year over year. This is a significant increase in sales, and Tata has maintained its lead in the Indian electric vehicle industry as a result.

The Tigor EV and Nexon EV are the company’s current passenger electric vehicles. With prices ranging from Rs. 14.54 lakh to Rs. 17.15 lakh, the latter is currently the best-selling electric automobile in our country. The Tata Nexon EV is powered by a 30.2 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor (129 PS/245 Nm) mounted on the front axle.

The Tata Tigor EV, on the other hand, is substantially less expensive, with prices ranging from Rs. 12.24 lakh to Rs. 13.39 lakh. On the front axle, a single electric motor (74.7 PS/170 Nm) is coupled to a 26 kWh battery pack. According to ARAI test results, the Tigor EV has a driving range of up to 306 kilometers, while the Nexon EV has a range of up to 312 kilometers.

The automaker plans to update the Tata Nexon EV soon, adding a long-range version as well as some new features. During testing, the upgraded electric SUV has been seen on Indian roads a few times. The long-range version will have a larger 40 kWh battery pack and will be sold alongside the current (standard-range) model.

Upcoming Tata EVs

Due to the appearance of spy photos of disguised test mules, the Tata Tigor EV is also expected to receive a similar update in the near future. Aside from that, Tata Motors also teased a mystery electric vehicle, which would be revealed on April 6. Despite the fact that no specifics have been disclosed, there is a lot of speculation.

Tata Motors is said to be working on a number of new electric vehicles, including the Altroz EV, Punch EV, and Sierra EV. The company is also working on a new midsize SUV that will fit between the Nexon and the Harrier, and it will be available in both gasoline and electric versions. Tata’s future electric vehicle, the one shown in the teaser, is likely to be one of these.
