Tesla Recalls Over 475,000 Electric Vehicles In The US

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), rearview cameras on Model 3 sedans may fail, increasing the danger of an accident.

  • Tesla is recalling more than 475,000 of its Model 3 and Model S electric cars to address rearview camera and trunk issues that increase the risk of crashing, the U.S. road safety regulator said.
  • The U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer is recalling 356,309 2017-2020 Model 3 vehicles to address rearview camera issues and 119,009 Model S vehicles due to front hood problems, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.
  • Tesla identified 2,301 warranty claims and 601 field reports regarding the issue for U.S. vehicles.

Tesla is recalling more than 475,000 Model 3 and Model S electric cars in the United States due to rearview camera and trunk concerns that increase the danger of a catastrophe, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Tesla shares dipped as much as 3% in the morning, but recovered and were last trading at $1,088.76, slightly higher. While investigating the electric car manufacturer’s driver aid system and other concerns, the federal regulator has been addressing another camera issue with the company.

The impacted model years in the recall are 2014 through 2021, and the total number of recalled vehicles is nearly equal to the half-million Tesla vehicles delivered last year.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tesla is recalling 356,309 Model 3 vehicles from 2017 to 2020 due to rearview camera concerns and 119,009 Model S vehicles owing to front hood issues.
