The 2009 SL65 AMG Black Has More Road Presence Than Any Modern Mercedes

Without a doubt, the contemporary Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black Series is a beast, but if we had to choose a favourite Black Series car, it would be the SL65 AMG.

Unlike the AMG GT Black Series, which has been tuned for track performance, the SL65 AMG Black Series is more focused on street performance and lacks the extreme aerodynamics of the ultimate AMG GT. It’s the ideal blend of ferocity and flair in our opinion, and one well-kept specimen is up for grabs.

This Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series is a 2009 model, and it’s for sale on Bring a Trailer. It has over 19,000 miles (30,500 kilometres) on the clock and comes with an owner’s handbook, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clear Florida title.

Mercedes-Benz only produced 350 SL65 AMG Black Series models, with 175 of them going to the United States. This automobile was delivered new to Fletcher Jones Motorcars in Newport Beach, California, but it was transported to Japan in 2011 and remained there until last year when it was brought back to the US.

Diamond White Metallic paint is applied to the car, which rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear AMG rims with 265/35 and 325/30 Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tyres, respectively. Upgraded brakes with silver callipers are also included.

There are power-adjustable seats in the cabin, as well as black leather on the dashboard, steering wheel, and door panels. Carbon fibre trim can also be found in various places.

The automobile is driven by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 with 661 horsepower and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque, much like the previous SL65 AMG Black Series cars. This engine is coupled to a five-speed automatic gearbox with a limited-slip differential driving the rear wheels.
